“It is in all of our interests to see this school get built and flourish.”

- Rob Kaplan, Vice Chair, Goldman Sachs

Charting the Course for Tomorrow’s Leaders

The Compass School of Texas was founded by a coalition of visionary educators and families, who committed time, energy, and resources to establish the school. The Launch Committee raised the funds to purchase the properties, hire faculty and staff, and open Compass’ doors in 2023 to 43 students Pre-K through 2nd Grade.

Over the course of three years, the school has grown to 105 students Pre-K through 4th grade. Compass will continue to expand one grade per year until it reaches 340 students Pre-K through 8th Grade. To make this expansion possible, Compass launched the True North Capital Campaign. This endeavor is essential to raise vital funds for constructing our new campus, expanding programming and curriculum, increasing scholarships and tuition assistance, covering operating costs, positively impacting the community beyond the Compass Campus, establishing a program for innovation and entrepreneurship, and ultimately establishing an endowment to ensure long-term sustainability for future generations.

Navigating the Future with Purpose and Vision

The future campus is intentionally designed to spark creativity, strengthen academics, and provide resources to expand mission-aligned programming. The space includes—STEM and robotics labs, The Brundage Family World Language Room, fine arts and music studios, multiple gardens and terraces, a creek dock, a greenhouse, and a library—each balancing open-ended exploration with purposeful structure. The Laurie Sands Harrison Family Lobby will provide flexible space for community gatherings.

Community and enrichment spaces will feature a multipurpose gymnasium and theater, Farm-to-Table kitchen, and flexible gathering areas. Outdoors, students will learn and play across a natural landscape with a treehouse, outdoor classrooms, gardens, The Novak Family Chicken Coop, The Robert M. Rogers Foundation Flagpole, The Lacerte Family amphitheater, a sport court, and an athletic field designed to inspire wonder and community.

“Through strategic partnerships, dedicated stewardship, and unwavering commitment, Compass will create a legacy of educational excellence that transforms lives and strengthens the community."

Co-Chairs of the True North Capital Campaign

Compass embodies the very essence of what we believe a school should be. The school goes beyond preparing children academically; it empowers them to face life’s challenges with confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of purpose. With the continued growth of the DFW area, we see an ever-increasing need for educational institutions that can meet the demand for high-quality, independent education.

“We invite you to join us in supporting this effort to create a lasting legacy of learning. Together, we can ensure that The Compass School of Texas will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come.”

-Peter and Susi Brundage, Co-Chairs of the True North Capital Campaign

Programmatic Support

Funds raised will enable Compass educators to design a quality, values-rich Middle School Curriculum, attract and retain talented staff with competitive compensation, professional development, and benefits, and support the Leadership Team in developing a Pre-K through 8th grade Global Impact program that cultivates leaders and change-makers in the community.

Scholarship Opportunities & Tuition Assistance

Funds raised will assist qualified applicants and current families, demonstrating financial necessity. During the 2024-2025 Academic Year, 8% of Compass families received tuition assistance and two merit-based scholarships were awarded. The goal is to increase scholarships and tuition assistance every year, so a Compass education is affordable for all qualified applicants.

Community Engagement

Compass has an intentional community engagement program that serves the Dallas population through volunteerism, outreach, and Compass-hosted events like the Fireside Chats, the annual Auction, and Farmers’ Market. Community is one of Compass' core values and donors have the opportunity to shape this program to effect positive change. The philanthropic landscape in Dallas is vast, and Compass will continue building partnerships with local nonprofits and businesses to engage visionary leaders.

“I truly believe we are transforming the way we educate our children, leaving a lasting impression that will endure for generations to come.”

-Shelly Sender, Head of School
